2.4G Electronic Shelf Label Solution System Architecture
Electronic shelf labels (ESL) use wireless communication technology to connect digital price tags with a central management system. When a retailer updates a product price in the system, the information is automatically transmitted to the corresponding electronic label through a base station.
First, the ESL label management software on the server processes the information for each item and packages it into data packets containing pricing and product details.
Next, the software transmits these data packets to the base station via a 2.4 GHz wireless signal. After receiving the packets, the base station forwards them to the corresponding electronic shelf labels (ESLs) to update the price displayed on the screen. Each ESL has a unique identification code, allowing it to receive and display the specific information associated with the corresponding product. Data can be sent either to all label devices simultaneously or to selected labels individually. This process allows stores to update thousands of prices simultaneously without manual replacement of paper tags.
